Throughout the fall, Toronto offers a range of events that will keep you energized and entertained. Here at Genesis Downtown, we’ve rounded up three local festivals that you should consider visiting when the leaves start to change.
Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF)
Known as the biggest public film festival on the planet, TIFF offers you the chance to attend world premieres, watch cutting-edge films, and attend galas. This festival, which will take place Sept. 5-15 throughout Toronto, will give you the opportunity to expand your film horizons and catch up-and-coming Oscar hopefuls.
The Word on the Street
Perched on the shores of Lake Ontario is The Word on the Street, the world’s largest outdoor bookstore. This free festival brings together over 200 authors and more than 270 book and magazine vendors to give you the chance to not only find your next favourite book, but learn more about the writing process from well-known authors. This festival will take place Sept. 21-22 at the Harbourfront Centre.
Toronto International Festival of Authors
If you’re not all booked out by The Word on the Street, add the Toronto International Festival of Authors to your schedule. As you might expect, this festival gives you the chance to see novelists, poets, playwrights, short-story writers, and biographers discuss their craft over the course of 11 days. You can catch readings, interviews, round-table discussions, and more from Oct. 24 to Nov. 3 at the Harbourfront Centre.
