The new Genesis GV60 is the automaker’s first foray into the market of electric vehicles. With remarkable efficiency, thrilling performance, and a new twist on the marque’s signature design philosophy, this model offers plenty of reasons to make the switch to an EV.
The Genesis GV60 makes it convenient to go electric. According to manufacturer estimates, when connected to a 350kW charger, the model’s ultra-speed charging function can allow it to charge from 10-80% in 18 minutes. With rear-wheel drive (RWD), it’s expected to provide 451 km of range on a single charge.
The GV60 sports an aerodynamic coupe roof and a long wheelbase, giving it an athletic profile that speaks to its dynamic performance capabilities. Enjoy a better view of your surroundings with its digital side mirrors, and make a statement with the brand’s signature two-line headlamps.
On the inside, the Genesis GV60 embraces the beauty of clean, elegant design with floating architecture and flat floors to maximize spaciousness. Up front, you’ll find a next-generation infotainment system alongside a cabin that’s crafted from recycled and sustainable materials. One of the model’s most outstanding features is the rotating Crystal Sphere. This gorgeous feature serves as mood lighting when the vehicle is off, but switches to the Shift By Wire when the GV60 is ready to drive.

If you’ve wondered about the future of the Genesis brand, look to the new Genesis X Speedium Coupe concept that recently debuted in New York City. This inspiring vehicle represents the brand’s plan to switch to all electric vehicles by 2030.
Luc Donckerwolke, Chief Creative Officer of Genesis, wants everyone to know that this concept vehicle is not just for fun. “This isn’t a show car — it’s a look into our design processes as we explore ideas for the next wave of EVs, one that incorporates Genesis’ DNA,” he said.
The X Speedium Coupe has a striking design that takes many signature Genesis elements and elevates them. For example, the front calls back to the iconic Genesis Crest grille and features Two Lines lamps that represent the electric future of the brand.
To encapsulate the image of a classic car that embodies timeless elegance, the X Speedium Coupe was painted in “Inje Green.” This emerald green colour was inspired by a Korean racetrack with mountains in the distance. The wheels also have a unique design and you can see bright green brake calipers that no doubt contribute to the concept’s driving dynamics.
While this exact model won’t be arriving on our lot, our team at Genesis Downtown is looking forward to seeing new Genesis EVs head our way soon.
This is the fourth consecutive year that the entire Genesis lineup has received the coveted TSP+ ranking from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. The G70 (built after June 2021), G80, G90, GV70, and GV80 all received the required Good or Acceptable ratings in the organization’s tests.

Genesis vehicles are built to impress, offering a wealth of innovative features and thrilling powertrains with attractive overall designs. As such, it should come as no surprise that every single Genesis model was named to the Car and Driver 2022 Editors’ Choice List.
The automotive experts at Car and Driver (C/D) researched and tested more than 400 vehicles and pared that down to a total of 116 in the final list. Here’s what they had to say about the Genesis lineup:
Genesis GV70, Compact Luxury SUV: As the newest model in the lineup, the GV70 was praised by C/D editors for its sporty handling, engine offerings, and premium interior design.
Genesis GV80, Mid-Size Luxury SUV: Similar to the GV70, the C/D editors noted that the cabin of the GV80 is also elevated and well-tailored. The SUV also stood out for its smooth, quiet ride and its many standard tech features.
Genesis G70, Entry-Luxury Car: The playful handling and premium cabin of the G70 helped this model stand out to the Car and Driver editors. Its affordable price was a bonus that was also appreciated.
Genesis G80, Mid-Size Luxury Car: To directly quote the editors at Car and Driver, the G80 was praised for “Lovely interior design, packed with features, bargain pricing.”
Genesis G90, Full-Size Luxury Car: In a crowded segment, the G90 stood out for its “silky-smooth” engine options, high-end looks, and budget-friendly pricing.

It wasn’t that long ago that the Genesis GV70 made its debut and provided drivers with exceptional style, performance, and luxury. Now, you can have all that and outstanding efficiency thanks to the all-new electrified Genesis GV70.
The electric GV70 is based on the regular GV70, keeping the features and amenities that everyone has come to know and love over the past few years. This includes its spacious, driver-focused interior that emphasizes the beauty of white space and is filled with cutting-edge technology.
With the electric GV70, you’ll also get new technologies that are designed especially for an electric SUV. As such, the multi-rapid charging system offers both 400V and 800V options. With the inclusion of 350kW rapid charging, the GV70 can go from 10-80% battery in less than 20 minutes.
Along with offering smart and quick charging, the electrified GV70 is expected to provide remarkable efficiency while maintaining the thrill that comes with driving a Genesis vehicle. The SUV will be equipped with standard all-wheel drive and is estimated to reach 96 kph in 4.5 seconds with the model’s Boost Mode.
These are just some of the highlights of the new electrified Genesis GV70. We’re excited to see updates like this from the brand, and if you’d like to learn more, contact our team at Genesis Downtown in Toronto, Ontario.
On the outside, the G90 sports a new Crest Grille flanked by Two-Line headlamps to resemble the Genesis emblem. Also revised is that Guilloché patterned emblem, which is almost 80% thinner to elevate the G90’s design even more. The back helps to elongate the sedan thanks to the Two-Line rear combination lamps that mimic the front headlamps.
The beauty of the sedan’s exterior extends to its cabin, which has been carefully crafted with the Genesis Beauty of White Space interior design ethos in mind. The gorgeous, high-quality materials that fill the interior harmoniously blend with the updated advanced technologies. For example, the EasyClose system will close the door so you can comfortably envelop yourself in the supple leather seats without having to reach for the handle.
It’s not all about looks, though. The new Genesis G90 has been equipped with a 3.5-litre turbo engine that offers a thrilling performance of 380 horsepower. New suspension technology has also been added to the G90 to allow for improved handling and a smoother ride. And to ensure the quietest ride yet, Genesis has outfitted the sedan with its most advanced noise canceling ANC-R system.
These are just a few of the many highlights you’ll encounter in the all-new Genesis G90. To learn more, contact our team at Genesis Downtown in Toronto, Ontario.
As the world moves more toward electrification and being more eco-friendly, automakers are following suit to meet the needs of consumers. Genesis has plans to build its final gas-powered engine by 2025 and go all-electric by no later than 2030.
According to KBB.com’s Sean Tucker, “The roadmap will see eight new Genesis electric vehicles (EVs) — four SUVs and four cars – make up the Genesis lineup. We’ve seen three of them before.” What Tucker is referring to are the GV60, GV70, and the upcoming 2022 G80 EV.
The G80 EV is based on the existing popular luxury sedan, the G80, with an electric powertrain. Genesis estimates that this new EV will reach a range of approximately 426 km, though official certification has not been completed yet. In addition to being efficient, this luxury EV is also slated to be eco-friendly inside, thanks to vegan leather and reclaimed wood offerings.
Not much else has been shared regarding the Genesis EV lineup except for a shadowy image with signature dual-line headlights gleaming through the darkness. The next major auto show, where automakers typically debut new models, is the New York International Auto Show in April. Our team at Genesis Downtown in Toronto is hoping that we get more details sooner than that. Stay tuned for updates on the electrifying future of Genesis.
The Genesis GV70 overcame nearly three dozen other SUVs to earn the title of 2022 MotorTrend SUV of the Year. MotorTrend did not mince words about its winner of the Golden Calipers, hailing it as “the best Genesis vehicle ever.”
Each year, the experts at MotorTrend compare vehicles from the world’s major brands to determine their choice for SUV of the Year. The 2022 Genesis GV70 was one of 35 vehicles vying for the year’s top honor, which is based on performance across six major metrics: advancement in design, engineering excellence, safety, efficiency, value, and performance of intended function.
Across those six criteria, the 2022 Genesis GV70 stunned MotorTrend editors and contributors by leaving the competition completely in the dust.
“Among a segment already stuffed with intriguing options, the Genesis GV70 is nothing short of a revelation,” writes MotorTrend’s Zach Gale, “and the only choice for the 2022 MotorTrend SUV of the Year honor.”
To call the 2022 Genesis GV70 incredible would be an understatement. If you want to see for yourself why the GV70 is in a class all its own and the clear choice for 2022 MotorTrend SUV of the Year, schedule a test drive at Genesis Downtown in Toronto, Ontario.
Genesis is stepping it up for automakers worldwide with its latest innovation. The new Genesis Face Connect technology uses biometric information to let you seamlessly interact with your vehicle.
The new tech utilizes a Near Infra-Red (NIR) camera to recognize human faces in any weather, including rain and snow, and even at night. Built to make the driving experience even more customizable, the Face Connect technology can let you open and close the doors without using a smart key. This means you can enjoy outdoor activities without worrying about finding a place to carry keys.
Face Connect has the ability to register two faces for each vehicle, and new profiles can be safely registered and deleted using voice assistant. An additional biometric option for Genesis vehicles is the Fingerprint Authentication System, which lets you start the vehicle using fingerprint recognition.
To ensure that this new technology is always up-to-date, Genesis has expanded its OTA Software Update that wirelessly updates features. Previously, only the Head-Up Display, navigation, and digital cluster could be updated via OTA. But now, this tech has spread to other components of Genesis vehicles, including the steering wheel, airbags, brakes, suspension, and an integrated control device.
It’s so exciting to see all of this cutting-edge updates from Genesis. To learn more about these new features, which are expected to be implemented on the new GV60 — or the already available Genesis Digital Key technology — reach out to our team at Genesis Downtown in Toronto, Ontario.
